Contract Description:
The goal of this project is to asses nutrient availability within freshwater trophic levels of the Methow River Watershed. Nutrient supplementation through specific prescriptions could follow if nutrients levels are shown to be limiting as a result of reduced, low levels of natural production within the basin.

This statement of work includes work elements for tasks to be completed in FY 09. Nutrient Sampling will take place on the Twisp River and will include primary (water quality, chlorophyll a, and algae taxonomy), and secondary ( aquatic macroinvertebrate) production parameters. The data will be analyzed through a variety of lab protocols that will characterize and quantify specific trophic level nutrients. All data will be stored in a web based relational database (created by statistical consulting services), further statistical analysis, sample size  determination,  power analyses and analysis of variance is needed to ensure a rigorous sampling design. Results from this year sampling will be used to further refine future sampling years to ensure the most efficient use of allocated resources.
