Contract Description:
The objective of the project is to remove an artificial flood control structure (setback levee) adjacent to a side channel of the Willamette River on the property known as Green Island.  The removal of this levee will promote floodplain processes necessary for healthy stream and riparian function.  The levee constructed by previous landowners between time period of 1951 and 1968.  Flooding events in 1965 prompted the levee construction preventing inundation of agriculture fields. The structure separates an agriculture field from a side channel of the Willamette River.  The removal of this structure will aid in the floodplain connection at river events in the 3-8yr interval regime.
