To help collect information about monitoring protocols and designs in a consistent fashion and improve data management tools to exchange information, PNAMP has planned development of a suite of tools to support monitoring practitioners and managers in the region. Currently, one tool in the suite is fully developed (
www.monitoringmethods.org); one prototype has been developed as a proof of concept (Integrated Status and Trends Monitoring (ISTM) demonstration project master sample tracking and management tool); and other ideas have been presented tools to support creation of metadata records, etc.). To limit duplication of effort PNAMP is managing and administering
www.monitoringmethods.org to support data exchange between BPA’s electronic contracting program Pisces and the
www.CBFish.org (Taurus) proposal and project reporting data management tools. Management and exchange of content captured in these tools is essential to improving operational efficiencies in regional monitoring through consistent of data collection, analysis and exchange processes.
In addition, PNAMP intends to continue with other planned regional data management tasks for natural resource monitoring programs, specifically to support development of recommendations for regional standards and tools to improve data sharing and support individual partner capacity for data management and a shared infrastructure. PNAMP intends to continue support for development of data exchange concepts. Emphasis will be on support for scoping and refining the needs and issues related to sharing habitat monitoring data and continued support for the Coordinated Assessments process.
