Contract Description:
Hood River Production Program - Hatchery O&M
(Round Butte Hatchery - Pelton Ladder Extended Rearing Facilities)
Portland General Electric Contract
October 1 - September 30

Program Objectives:
In parallel with Portland General Electric, the Confederated Tribes of Warm Spring, ODFW’s Deschutes spring Chinook program at Round Butte Hatchery, and the Pelton Ladder Rearing Facility, BPA is funding the rearing of spring Chinook smolts for the Hood River Basin. One complete hatchery cycle (from trapping of broodstock to release of smolts from that broodstock ) is about 18 months long.  Presently, BPA funds 1/3 of the ladder rearing facility for production of smolts for the Hood River system.

Work Plan Objectives:
The plan objectives are to initiate and complete the annual extended rearing activities in Pelton Ladder, identify and complete all O&M activities, continue routine hatchery operations (broodstock selection, spawning, incubation, rearing and disease control of spring Chinook fingerlings), initiate necessary facility upgrades, and continue routine ancillary actions.  Work items are presented below.

Deliverables:
- Status reports need to be sent, either via e-mail or hard copy, whenever problems are encountered during the contract period (i.e., disease outbreaks or unexpected mortalities associated with hatchery fish).

- Brief quarterly summary reports are due 15 days after the end of each fiscal quarter, reporting the number of fish transferred to Pelton Ladder cells, the number of fish transferred to the Hood River, and the number of fish released into the Deschutes River.  Data from these reports will be used by ODFW staff in their annual M&E report.
