Contract Description:
This contract period marks the transition from water-up and testing activities to traditional fish culture activities.   Approximately 544,790 BY14 fingerlings are in outdoor raceways.   A representative group of these fish will be PIT tagged during winter 2016.  The smolts will be released during May 2016 at a size of approximately 10 fish per pound (fpp).  Baseline data including growth, survival, feed conversion rates, etc. will be collected, reported monthly, and used to set-up future brood year's projections and standard fish culture procedures. Springfield FH anticipates a full production scenario of 1.1 million BY 15 eyed Sockeye Salmon eggs to be received in December 2015.  The resulting fry are to be incubated to the swim-up stage, then transferred to early rearing tanks in January/February 2016.  When these fish reach a size of approximately 90-120 fpp, they will be adipose clipped and transferred from early rearing tanks to the outdoor raceways.  This usually occurs in late June of each year.  Baseline data described above will continue to be collected.

Water delivery systems include fixed speed and variable speed pumps, head-boxes with aeration equipment, and chiller.  Testing and refinement of operational procedures relating to the water delivery systems to ensure a healthy rearing environment and optimal survival will continue into this contract period as necessary.

Hatchery staff will update inventory as equipment is received.  Annual preventative scheduled maintenance activities will be ongoing throughout this and all future contract periods.

Hatchery personnel will attend and participate in Stanley Basis Sockeye Technical Oversight Committee (SBSTOC) and program specific meetings as  program needs necessitate and time allows.
