Contract Description:
The Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon (CTWSRO), Branch of Natural Resources, will implement Project #2007-157-00 Bull Trout Status and Abundance Monitoring in the Waters in and Bordering the Warm Springs Reservation, Oregon.  Work elements will be implemented from 10/01/17 - 09/30/18.

The project goal is to continue to implement accurate, cost effective methods for monitoring population status and trends for bull trout in the lower Deschutes River Subbasin.

Objectives for 2017 - 2018 are:
Document life-history diversity (resident, fluvial forms) of bull trout in Warm Springs River (WSR), Shitike Creek (SC), and Whitewater River (WWR) using half duplex (HDX) Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tag technology;
Monitor juvenile bull trout abundance and associated habitat in WSR and SC;
Monitor water temperatures in spawning, rearing, and migratory corridors in WSR and SC;
Determine escapement of adult bull trout in the WSR; and,
Monitor spawning abundance in WSR, SC, WWR, and Jefferson Creek (JC).
