BPA Project Title:  Asotin County Riparian Buffer and Couse and Tenmile Creeks Protection and Implementation Project
Performance/Budget Period:  October 1, 2004 - September 30, 2005

Tenmile Creek is a 42 square mile tributary to the Snake River between Asotin Creek and Grande Ronde.  Almost exclusively private owernership, wild steelhead and rainbow/redband trout spawing and earing documented by WDFW in 2000 and 2002.  36 redds in 15.9 miles in 2000 and 29 redds in 7 miles were documented in 2001.  With an additional 23 resident rainbow/redband trout redds.

Couse Creek is a 24 square mile tributary to the Snake River between Tenmile Creek and the Grande Ronde.  It is also almost exclusively privatel owership with wild steelhead and rainbow/redband trout spawning and rearing documented by WDFW.

The ACCD with cooperation with co-managers and local landwoners have identified priorty restoration projects and the need to continue to assess salmonid use of streams outside of Asotin Creek.  The CREP Program has been successful and working with landowners to protect riparian areas and implement upland BMP's to reduce erosion has gained momentum.  We need this momentum to continue and implement the Asotin Subbasin Plan which identified priority areas and actions for ESA listed streams within Asotin County.  Couse and Tenmile are protection areas as identified by the Asotin Subbasin Plan.
