Contract Description:
The purpose of this project is to determine habitat requirements that are necessary for successful chum spawning in the mainstem Columbia River so that the hydrosystem can be managed in a manner to protect and enhance this spawning population.

Objective 1:  Determine the response of spawning chum salmon to elevated flows using acoustic telemetry.
Objective 2:  Determine changes in chum salmon spawning behavior in response to elevated flows using a DIDSON acoustic camera.
Objective 3:  Determine whether chum salmon spawn at higher riverbed elevations during elevated flows.
Objective 4:  Validate a new chum spawning model to evaluate it applicability to other spawning areas in lower Columbia River.
