Contract Description:
Contract History:
The Lolo Creek project has been an on-going project of the Nez Perce Tribe Fisheries Watershed Program and BPA since 1996.  The ultimate goal of the project is to restore the physical and biological characteristics of the watershed to provide quality habitat for anadromous and resident fish species that support the historical, cultural and economic practices of the Nez Perce Tribe.  The project addresses passage problems, primarily at road/stream crossings, on both private and federal land and addresses riparian planting and riparian protection program management.  This project also protects productive non-Federal habitat, since listed salmon and steelhead ESUs are present within Lolo Creek.  The project addresses all the bullets listed for this RPA including support of TMDL development for the Lolo Creek watershed. Major limiting factors in the watershed addressed by this project are temperature, sediment, in-stream habitat, habitat connectivity and riparian vegetation protection/restortation.  Completed contract work includes culvert prioritization and assessment, installation of an off-site watering site, 9 culvert replacements, 7 culvert removals, 1100 ft. of stream bank stabilization, 59 miles of road decommissioning, 19 miles of fence installation, and continued monitoring and evaluation.

Summary of 2006-2007 Contract Work:
This project is a part of the Clearwater National Forest-Nez Perce Tribe Watershed Restoration Partnership with in kind contributions from the Clearwater National Forest.  Funding, in the amount of $ 201,232.98, was approved by the Idaho Office of Species Conservation Pacific Coast Salmon Recovery Fund as a share to this project.  Potlatch Corporation is also a partner on portions of this project.  Their funding contribution is typically $5,000 to $10,000.  This year's implementation includes 3 culvert replacements, 1 culvert removal, riparian planting and fence maintenance.
