Contract Description:
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) is working closely with the Lower Columbia River Estuary
Partnership (Estuary Partnership) to implement BPA project 2003-007-00 (Ecosystem Monitoring Project). The Estuary Partnership is in the fifth year of implementing this
project. The USGS was a subcontractor under the LCREP contract for the first 2 years (September 1, 2003
to August 31, 2005). In FY06 and FY07, USGS will be contracting directly with BPA to complete a part of the
work outlined under project 2003-007-00.

SAMPLING DESIGN DEVELOPMENT AND COLUMBIA RIVER ESTUARY ECOSYSTEM CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM REFINEMENT:

The Estuary Partnership in conjunction with USGS will formulate a probabilistic sampling design for an additional hydrogeomorphic reach for habitat characterization and fish monitoring and will work in coordination with the UW to delineate the habitat complexes of the Columbia River Estuary Ecosystem Classification System.
