Contract Description:
Spring Creek is a high quality tributary of Dry Creek which dumps into the Walla Walla River and supports a remnant run of Mid-Columbia steelhead.  This project will address what appear to be two complete passage barriers a short distance from the mouth of Spring Creek.  This project will make an additional 3.2 miles of tributary habitat available to steelhead for spawning and rearing.  Our early plans are to use series of rock weirs to step the surface elevation up 6-12 inches per weir, a design we have used successfully on other tributary streams.  Project design will be done by the WWCCD staff engineer who will coordinate with WDFW and CTUIR passage specialists.  Construction will be done during the in-water work window of 2009.

With delays in obtaining cultural resources clearance, WWCCD will seek an extension/variance in the in-water work window to complete construction later in the fall/winter of 2009/2010.  Cultural resource clearance is now expected by about December 7.
