Contract Description:
Work holistically to restore the channelized Salmon River corridor to a natural meandering form in balance with watershed processes that will restore geomorphic diversity, reduce bank erosion, lower summer temperatures and improve critical fish habitat. US Army Corps of Engineers will provide 65% cost share for the project.  This contract seeks to purchase conservation easements along the 12-mile reach of the Salmon River from the Highway 75 Junction to Highway 93 Bridge (estimated at about 12 miles) in fulfillment of the 35% portion required by BPA.  The Corps will carry out habitat restoration activities on the acquired properties as required by the in site conditions.  Efforts include, but are not limited to, spring development, reconnection, diversion removal, fencing, side-channel enhancement, substrate improvements, etc.  Additionally, as conservation easements are acquired, the District will work with landowners to ensure compliance is maintained as stipulated in the purchase agreement.
