Contract Description:
The Northeast Oregon Hatchery project is identified in the May 2008 Biological Opinion in RPA 41 as pending a NOAA approved HGMP (Hatchery and Genetic Management Plan).  

Co-managers are working to develop HGMP's for the artificial propagation programs in Northeast Oregon which will be "batched" together to develop a single Biological Opinion for the programs in the Grande Ronde and Imnaha subbasins.  The HGMP's included in this batch that the Nez Perce Tribe has a role in reviewing and contributing to - but is not the lead writer are:

Catherine Creek spring Chinook, Upper Grande Ronde spring Chinook, Lookingglass spring Chinook, Imnaha spring Chinook, Imnaha steelhead, and Grande Ronde steelhead.  Activities covered under these HGMP's include production and monitoring and evaluation work.

This contract is for the Nez Perce Tribe to participate in the discussions and negotiations with co-managers, ODFW, CTUIR, WDFW, USFWS that result in the development and review of these HGMP documents.  The NPT will also be involved in ESA consultation discussions with NOAA Fisheries and review and comment of the draft Biological Opinion developed for these programs.
