Contract Description:
The project provides immediate and long-term protection for anadromous and resident fish species in the Hood River, Deschutes, Grande Ronde, Imnaha, John Day, Umatilla, and Walla Walla, Willamette River, and other Mid and Lower Columbia River subbasins by ensuring proper operation and maintaining of protection and passage devices on private irrigation diversions and dam structures.  Proper operation and maintenance is critical to fish survival, and will ensure that fish protection is adequate as per NMFS Criteria.  These facilities reduce or eliminate fish loss associated with irrigation withdrawals and passage barriers.  The program uses cost share from NOAA, PCSRF, ODFW License Surcharge, ODFW General Fund, and BPA for implementation.  This contract will administer the program, provide operation and maintenance of existing screens and passage structure, design new or replacement structures and maintain program facilities.
