Contract Description:
Funds from this project will be used to repair and up-grade Hood River Production Program facilities.

Two components of the Moving Falls Fish Facility (MFFF) are not functioning as designed. The four 80' X 8' fiberglass raceways are warping and cracking. The MFFF fish ladder entrance auxiliary water supply (AWS) is not routing sediment as designed.  To remedy these problems project funds will be used to replace the raceways and install a slide gate in the AWS.

The SCADA alarm system at Parkdale Fish Hatchery is dated and does not provide reliable protection at the MFFF. Technical support for the existing system is only provided by one vendor located in Spokane resulting in delay in necessary repairs.  The alarm system will be retrofitted or replaced with current technology that can be maintained remotely.

PFH hatch house requires additional infrastructure to reduce egg tray densities. Two - four new stack incubators (containing a total of16 trays) need to be purchased and installed.

The early rearing facility at PFH is housed under a temporary awning with above ground piping. A  30' x 40' steel building  will be constructed, plumbed and wired on hatchery grounds to house the rearing vessels.

To segregate hatchery from wild winter steelhead consistent with current guidelines the HRPP will design a permanent adult  trapping facility to replace the existing temporary resistance board weir.

Specific tasks in this contract include:
Moving Falls Fish Rearing Facility:
Replace fiberglass raceways with concrete.
Install predator fencing around facility.
Inspect water intake for blockage.

Moving Fall Fish Ladder:
Fabricate and install a slide gate in the AWS to flush sediment.

Parkdale Fish Hatchery:
Upgrade or replace existing alarm system.
Install two - four vertical stack incubators (16 trays) and associated plumbing in the hatch house.
Relocate early reariing infrastructure inside a steel building.

Work with ODFW to design a Neal Creek Adult Fish Trap Design to replace the existing temporary trap.
