Contract Description:
This project on North Scappoose Creek in the Scappoose Bay Watershed addresses key salmon-production limiting factors identified in multiple regional and local salmon recovery plans, including the Lower Columbia River and Upper Willamette River Conservation and Recover Plans (ODFW, 2011). The project will restore natural habitat on 0.3 miles of North Scappoose Creek through installation of large wood structures, bank layback, invasive species removal and native vegetation plantings. Project outcomes support Upper Willamette Spring Chinook, Lower Columbia River Fall Chinook and coho salmon, plus Steelhead and Columbia River Chum species by extending high quality, lower-watershed habitat beyond Scappoose Bay and Multnomah Channel. Restoration work is being conducted directly above identified Anchor Habitat, and approximately one mile above tidal reaches. Project support is being provided by the adjacent landowners, ODFW, Columbia SWCD, and OWEB.
