Contract Description:
CCR-47606: NCTE until 9/30 in order to complete plant maintenance field work.
CCR-46861: Canceling milestone to purchase seed. Reallocate funds to plant establishment and project management.  No change in budget total.

Luckiamute State Natural Area (LSNA) is a 925-acre Oregon State Parks property located at the confluence of the Luckiamute, Santiam, and Willamette Rivers, an anchor habitat for listed Endangered Species Act anadromous species. It is a high conservation priority for multiple interest groups and natural resource agencies and home to one of the largest tracts of intact, hardwood, bottomland forest in the Willamette Valley. BPA funds will support an expansion of 275 acres of floodplain forest restoration work and 500 acres of existing floodplain forest by reforesting an adjacent 60-acre field, an area leased for agriculture until 2019. The site is almost entirely in the two- year inundation zone and is regularly inundated by the Luckiamute and Willamette Rivers at this dynamic confluence. The project site will convert the open field into a diverse, multi-storied floodplain forest drastically improving off-channel winter habitat conditions for Upper Willamette River spring Chinook and winter steelhead.  In addition to winter rearing benefits for native fish, reforestation will offer other benefits such as increased water filtration and flood storage, enhanced terrestrial habitat for many species, and improved public recreation and engagement opportunities. Project partners include OPRD, United States Geologic Survey (USGS), Oregon State University (OSU), Ducks Unlimited (DU), Green Spring Farms, and Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF). Funding will support remaining site preparation in 2021, cultural resources surveys and environmental compliance, adjacent forest improvement, planting, inter-planting, and plant maintenance activities.
