Fiscal Year 2023 contract tasks include:
-Estimate run year 2023 adult spring Chinook and hatchery winter steelhead returns.
-Develop spring Chinook harvest recommendation.
-Monitor and estimate 2023 tribal harvest at Punchbowl Falls.
-Capture juvenile salmonids at downstream migrant traps and generate smolt population estimates.
-Determine BY 21 hatchery Chinook smolt out migration timing.
-Document run year 2023 spring Chinook spawning locations, timing and success.
-Measure river flows and water temperatures throughout the Hood River basin.
-Reconstruct run year 2022 harvest and escapement.
-Assisting Parkdale Fish Hatchery staff with various fish culture activities including implementing natural feeding program.
-Install, maintain and operate PIT receivers in the basin.
-Report fiscal and calendar year 2022 findings to BPA.

During FY 23 NOAA will contract with BPA using funds from this project to:
1. Analyze data for the Deschutes/Hood Comparative hatchery study.
2. Work on producing completion report of project findings over the course of the study and prepare scientific manuscript(s) if appropriate.
