This contract provides funding for three hatchery O&M projects operated by the Nez Perce Tribe:  1) Nez Perce Tribal Hatchery (NPTH), which began operation in 2002, annually produces 1.4 million Snake River fall Chinook (ESA listed) and 625,000 spring/summer Chinook in the Clearwater Subbasin; 2) Lostine River Supplementation Program, which began operation in 1997, produces 250,000 spring/summer Chinook (ESA listed) in the Grande Ronde Subbasin; and 3) Johnson Creek Artificial Propagation Enhancement (JCAPE), which began operation in 1996, produces 150,000 spring/summer Chinook (ESA listed) in the Salmon River Subbasin.  All three of these projects were developed with the primary purpose to supplement natural populations of Snake Basin Chinook salmon to increase abundance and work toward restoration of these stocks.  Adult returns from these projects also provide important harvest opportunities for treaty and non-treaty fisheries in the Snake and Columbia basins.  Monitoring and evaluation of these O&M projects occurs under project 2025-002-00.
