Contract Description:
Project selected for FY26 funding for PLCI. Staff at Water Resources Education Center will partner with Yakama Nation Fisheries and CRITFC to create an indoor habitat for overwintering Pacific lamprey, allowing visitors to observe them up close. This project will address the public’s lack of awareness (the second highest threat to lamprey) and inspire water conservation efforts to support lamprey survival into the future. Funding will support installation of a new aquarium, life support system, and bilingual (English and Spanish) educational exhibits, including graphics and tactile objects to increase understanding, appreciation and conservation of these unique creatures.
