Contract Description:
This Wild Fish Conservancy (WFC) project will deliver powerful imagery to enable Pacific Lamprey Conservation Initiative (PLCI) and partners to more effectively advocate for the conservation of Pacific lamprey within the Columbia River Basin. Lamprey face critical threats such as habitat degradation, migration barriers, and altered hydrology. This media project aims to capture these challenges, the natural beauty of these ancient fishes, and the restoration efforts underway to mitigate them. By providing high-quality visuals, including aerial, underwater, and ground-based photography, WFC will help conservation organizations and agencies promote public awareness and inspire actions that address these threats. The project will support key restoration efforts outlined in the Pacific Lamprey Conservation Agreement (2022), particularly in Regional Management Units where the species' presence is declining. The resulting digital media portfolio will be made available to PLCI partners and other stakeholders working on Pacific lamprey recovery. This project will also contribute to outreach campaigns, with a goal of engaging the public and decision-makers in the conservation of this ancient, often misunderstood, culturally and ecologically significant species.
