Contract Description:
The PDFF is scheduled for removal in summer 2010, along with PacifiCorps' Powerdale Dam.  Following the removal of the dam we will be constructing, installing, and operating seasonal fish traps and weirs on the mainstem Hood River and Neal Creek.  The ODFW will be responsible for conducting all phases of the trap operation.  These traps will be used to collect winter steelhead broodstock, and monitor escapement, and gather life history information, of all upstream migratory fish encountered at the traps.  Operation of the PDFF requires close coordination with several other BPA funded projects associated with the Hood River Production Project (HRPP).  In addition, several other BPA funded projects rely on data and fish collected from these traps to accomplish their project objectives (1988-053-04, 1988-053-03, 1988-053-07, 2003-054-00).  The overall implementation of the HRPP is jointly managed by the ODFW and Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon (CTWS).
