This contract is in support of the YKFP Monitoring and Evaluation Project, project number 1995-063-25.

The United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) will assist the Yakama Nation (YN) by marking URB Fall Chinook and Coho at the Eagle Creek National Fish Hatchery and the Yakima Prosser Hatchery for the Yakima/Klickitat Fisheries Program (YKFP). This work is in support of the Coho and Fall Chinook Feasibility Restoration and Supplementation Program.  The Bonneville Power Administration is providing funding for this project.

This contract will allow USFWS to mark all coho produced from fish returning to the Yakima River and its tributaries, including the Naches River.  The marking will occur according to the tentative schedule outlined below (April through July 2005).

The USFWS (through this contract) will provide all materials for marking the fish including the marking trailer, anesthetic, contracted fish markers, and qualified trailer operators. In addition US Fish and Wildlife Service staff will provide direct supervision and operation of the fish marking trailers and actual marking will be done by subcontract.  All personnel, travel, supplies and services costs are broken out by marking location and attached.

NEPA environmental review will be coordinated, as needed, with BPA's NEPA staff.  Generally, NEPA is coordinated through a related project, YKFP Management, Data, and Habitat, 1988-102-25.  A specific NEPA CX has been processed to cover these fish marking activities.
