Contract Description:
The goal of this project is to operate and maintain Ford Hatchery to enhance the recreational and subsistence kokanee fisheries in Banks Lake.  The Ford Hatchery will augment production at Spokane Tribal kokanee/rainbow trout hatchery by producing 700,000 Kokanee @ 60/lb. totaling 11,666 lbs. for Banks Lake.  In addition 400,000 Kokanee are stocked into Banks Lake @ 600/lb. by the Ford Hatchery, this is funded by WDFW at no cost to BPA.  In conjunction with the Spokane Tribal Hatchery, Ford Hatcheries production will contribute to a combined goal of 1.4-million kokanee fry/fingerlings for Banks Lake. Current objectives included the increased use of native/indigenous stocks where available for propagation in the Lake Roosevelt subbasin.  Also, Ford Hatchery will continue to produce resident trout (80,000 lbs.) to promote the sport fisheries in put-and-take trout fishing lakes in eastern Washington (WDFW Management Region 1). Funding for the resident trout comes from WDFW at no cost to BPA.

Monitoring and evaluation of the Ford stocking programs will involve utilizing existing WDFW creel and lake survey programs to assess resident trout and kokanee plantings in WDFW managed waters.  A BPA monitoring and evaluation program will be used if BPA agrees to fund the program.
