Contract Description:
The Chief Joseph Hatchery Facility will provide the CCT with tribal employment opportunities, especially the salmon culturist positions required at this facility.  Currently there are not enough experienced tribal member salmon culturists available in the CCT workforce to meet the needs required at this facility.  In order to meet this need, the CCT has developed a training plan that should provide well trained tribal salmon culturists to be ready to meet the salmon culture requirements of this hatchery facility in a timely manner.

This training program will prepare graduates for the performance of a variety of technical and scientific salmon culture duties and hatchery operations and management requirements.  Upon completion of this training program, salmon hatchery trainees will commit to placement as fish hatchery technicians at the new Chief Joseph Salmon Hatchery for a minimum f two years.

This program is of benefit to BPA through supporting our Columbia Basin Fish Accord Memorandum of Agreement with the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation.  Funds have been and will continue to be available in the overall Chief Joseph Project Budget to support this program.
