The Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon (CTWSRO) will operate an adult holding, spawning, egg incubation, juvenile rearing, and acclimation facility near Parkdale, Oregon. The Parkdale Fish Hatchery will be used to implement the hatchery production for the Hood River Production Program (HRPP).  This will include the adult holding and spawning of winter steelhead and propagation of spring Chinook salmon.  The hatchery manager will oversee all phases of the Parkdale Fish Facility, including operation and maintenance, personnel, and coordination with tribal and non-tribal staff associated with the HRPP. Summer/ winter steelhead and spring Chinook salmon smolt acclimation and release into East and West Forks of Hood River will be implemented under this project. The facility will be upgraded to rear full term spring Chinook smolts beginning with eggs collected from the 2008 brood.  Upgrades will be funded under project 1988-053-15.  Carson NFH will be contracted to raise 45,000 spring Chinook smolts from eggs delivered from PFF for 2010 release. A group of 30,000 BY 07 juvenile spring Chinook will be returned to PFF from Round Butte Hatchery during the fall, 2008, to be reared overwinter and released from PFF. Information on growth rates will enable the hatchery manager to refine fish culture techniques to apply to BY 2008 production. Chinook salmon carcasses will be placed in the West Fork Hood River basin to increase instream nutrient levels.
