AUTHORIZATION:
The Northwest Power Planning Council (NPPC) authorized construction of Nez Perce Tribal Hatchery Complex (NPTHC) facilities 17, May 2000.  Construction began July 2001 and was essentially completed in October 2002.  The hatchery was dedicated 9, October 2002.  Spring and fall Chinook salmon eggs were brought on-station for incubation in October, and all systems appeared to be functioning.  
This statement of work and budget contain activities and costs associated with the operation and maintenance of the Nez Perce Tribal Hatchery and six satellite facilities.  Based on NPPC authorization for out-year operation and maintenance costs we are requesting the following:
FY2009 O&M budget:  $2,033,220.
  
2009 OBJECTIVES:  
For 2009, NPTH plans to release 1.4M FCS and 625,000 SCS into the Clearwater Subbasin.  To meet these objectives, ~900 adult FCS will be trapped at Lower Granite Dam for transport to NPTH along with volunteers to NPTH.  Egg take goal for the FCS program is 1,540,000 green eggs.  ~250 adult SCS will be trapped and transported to NPTH from Weirs on Lolo and Newsome Creeks along with volunteers to NPTH.  Adults for the SCS program may also come from other hatcheries in the Clearwater Subbasin.  Egg take goal for the SCS program is 467,500 green eggs.

To summarize, the following numbers and groups of fish will be reared and/or released in 2009 through the NPTH program.  

* 500,000 BY08 fall Chinook at NPTH - released into Clearwater River
* 200,000 BY08 fall Chinook at Cedar Flats Acclimation Facility - released into Selway River
* 200,000 BY08 fall Chinook at Lukes Gulch Acclimation Facility - released into South Fork Clearwater River
*               500,000 BY08 fall Chinook at North Lapwai Valley Acclimation Facility - released into Lapwai Creek
* 200,000 BY07 spring Chinook at NPTH - released into Clearwater River
*   75,000 BY08 spring Chinook at Newsome Acclimation Facility - released into Newsome Creek  
* 150,000 BY08 spring Chinook at Yoosa/Camp Acclimation Facility - released into Lolo Creek
*               200,000 BY08 spring Chinook - direct steam release into Meadow Creek
