The Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon (CTWSRO) will operate a full term spring Chinook salmon rearing and steelhead spawning / acclimation facility on the Middle Fork Hood River near Parkdale, Oregon and an acclimation/late rearing facility on the West Fork Hood River near Dee, Oregon.  All fish reared are marked by ad clipping.  Full term spring Chinook rearing will take place at the Parkdale Fish Hatchery (PFH) and Moving Falls Acclimation Facility (MFAF).  This will include the adult holding and spawning of winter steelhead and brood collection/propagation/ release of spring Chinook salmon.  The hatchery manager will oversee all phases of the PFH  and MFAF, including operation and maintenance. coordination with CTWS BNR staff and other partner agencies.

50,000 winter steelhead will be acclimated and released into the Middle and East Forks Hood River. The steelhead production goals will remain unchanged from previous years however broodstock composition may be adjusted. based upon agreement with co-managers.

The spring Chinook program is in a period of transition. The program goal of 150,000 spring Chinook salmon smolts acclimated and released into West and Middle Forks Hood River remains unchanged. However rearing strategies for the BY 13 brood will be identified  in late 2013 pending the completion of physiological and comparative hatchery evaluations.  Specific rearing procedures for the BY 13 production group will be documented in the 2014 Parkdale Fish Hatchery Annual Operating Plan (AOP).  The MFAF will be evaluated for use as a year round rearing facility.

If a suitable site is identified during ongoing conceptual design work.  Preliminary design work will begin to establish a permanent trapping facility in the Hood River to replace the existing temporary weir located at Dee Mill .

The HRPP will host a environmental education at PFH by providing a two day Salmon day event to local 4th and 5th graders as well as providing classroom learning activities.
