The Parkdale Fish Hatchery (PFH) and Moving Fallls Acclimation Facility (MFAF) will implement the hatchery production for the Hood River Production Program (HRPP).  This will include the adult holding and spawning of winter steelhead and propagation/ release of spring Chinook salmon.  The hatchery manager will oversee all phases of the PFH  and MFAF, including operation and maintenance. coordination with CTWS BNR staff and other partner agencies.

50,000 winter steelhead will be acclimated and released into the Middle and East Forks Hood River. The steelhead production goals will remain unchanged from previous years however broodstock composition may be adjusted..

The spring Chinook program is in a period of transition. The program goal of  150,000 spring Chinook salmon smolts acclimated and released into  West and Middle Forks Hood River remains unchanged. However rearing strategies for the BY  12 brood will be identified  in late 2012 pending the completion of physiological and comparative hatchery evaluations.  Specific rearing procedures for the BY 12 production group will be documented in the 2013 Parkdale Fish Hatchery Annual Operating Plan (AOP),  Carson NFH will be contracted to complete rearing of BY 11 Hood River spring Chinook salmon and return 45,000 smolts to the MFAF for release. The MFAF will be evaluated for use as a year round rearing facility.

Prelliminary design work will begin to establish a permanent trapping facility in the Hood River to replace the existing temporary weir located at Dee Mill .
