Contract Description:
The purpose of this June amendment is to move monies from contract 67695 to contract 66332 (under same project number 2000-027-00) due to unforeseen overage' s in construction cost. We also had to include a 2.5% COLA and a reduction in indirect cost within the tribe. As the construction was almost finish it was clear that more monies were needed and management staff at the tribe recognized that we should only hire one season tec instead of two. This causes a reduction in work being done in Work Elements B (Weed Control) and C (Maintain Wet Meadow Irrigation) because the tec's day to day duties are to complete those work elements. We still have 3 staff working on those activites but we will not have a full time person working strictly on those Work Elements.

The Malheur River Wildlife Mitigation Project was purchased in November 2000 to compensate, in part, for the loss of fish and wildlife resources in the Columbia and Snake River Basins.  The 31,781-acre Project is located eleven miles east of Juntura, Oregon and is adjacent to the Malheur River.  The Project includes 6,385 deeded acres owned by the Burns Paiute Tribe, 4,154 acres leased from the Department of State Lands, and 21,242 acres leased from the BLM.  The Project is comprised of meadow, wetland, and shrub-steppe habitats and stretches for seven miles along the Malheur River.

In 2015, this contract will allow the Burns Paiute Tribe in the following management activities: complying with cultural resource and ESA requirements, improving and maintaining multiple vegetation communities through seeding projects, identifying and controlling noxious weeds, re-establishing a riparian corridor, providing access, and education/coordination with tribal, government and general public parties.
