Contract Description:
The CTUIR Walla Walla River Basin Fish Habitat Enhancement Project, initiated in 1996, is an ongoing effort to monitor, protect, enhance, and restore the natural form and function of rivers, floodplains, and native fish habitat.

Major tasks to be completed by the project in this funding cycle include:

1. Hire a consultant to complete the restoration and design plan for approximately one mile of the mainstem Walla Walla River at the Kentch Property. The subcontract budget for this work will added after bids are in and will be followed by construction in 2014.

2. Coordinate with the Walla Walla Basin Watershed Council in the design of a passage barrier fix at the Smith sill drop-structure on the mainstem Walla Walla River. The project will be providing $10,000 in cost share for this work.

3. Replace an undersized culvert that is currently a passage barrier on Couse Creek near the Konen Rock Pit with a box culvert/bridge.  The subcontract budget for this work will added after bids are in.

4. Continue noxious weed control measures as needed along approximately 10 stream miles of project areas.

5. Collect and analyze project effectiveness monitoring data within a portion of the project areas.

6. Meet with private landowners, scope and develop conceptual plans for out-year restoration work with priority reaches of the basin.

7. Continue to provide technical support and coordination within the Mill Creek Working Group, Priority Projects Group, Snake River Recovery Board, Oregon Solutions Process, and others as needed.
