Contract Description:
The goal of the Upper Grande Ronde (UGR) Safety Net Program is to insure that a sufficient number of spring Chinook salmon are available for hatchery production for the upper Grande Ronde River.  This population has not yet reached the point where a Conventional Hatchery Program can be self-sustaining.  A coincident goal is to maintain the genetic diversity of indigenous artificially propagated Chinook salmon populations and that of wild Chinook salmon populations in the Grande Ronde Basin.
