Project Summary

Project 2010-020-00 - Chinook River Estuary Restoration
Project Number:
2010-020-00
Title:
Chinook River Estuary Restoration
Summary:
This Chinook River Estuary anadromous fish habitat restoration project is a Washington MOA Project directly funded by Bonneville Power Administration. The overall goal of this work is to provide increased and improved estuarine habitat for in-basin and out-of-basin anadromous salmonid species, with a focus on the 13 salmon ESU's and steelhead DPSs listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The enhanced juvenile rearing habitat and adult holding habitat resulting from the Chinook Estuary restoration will contribute to increased survival of anadromous salmonids in the Columbia River Estuary called for in the FCRPS Biological Opinion. The work under this project includes the following elements:

1. Hydrologic modeling.
2. Pre-Acquisition actions needed to produce appraisals for (a) a 120 acre fee simple acquisition, and (b) a 100 acre conservation (flood) easement.
3. A Chinook Estuary habitat Restoration Plan for comprehensive site restoration, development of tide gate management changes, and including near-term fish access/habitat improvement actions.
4. Implementation
